PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island: Both of Rhode Island's Senators, Jack Reed (D) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D), have seen their names tossed around as potential members of President Obama's second term cabinet. Reed, the longest serving member of the Rhode Island congressional delegation, has been suggested as a potential successor to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, or as a replacement for the head of the CIA. Whitehouse, who recently won re-election, may be asked to be the next Attorney General, a position currently held by Eric Holder.[1]
While not necessarily considered frontrunners for any of these positions, both men have publicly denied any interest in cabinet positions.[1]
