Rhode Island Superior Court magistrate vacancy attracts 12 applicants

Providence, Rhode Island: Twelve have applied for the position of Superior Court Magistrate of Rhode Island. The candidates are seeking to replace retired Magistrate William J. McAtee, who left the court last September. Hon. Alice Bridget Gibney, the presiding judge of the Superior Court, will make the appointment, which is for a 10-year term at an annual salary of $139,897. Of the nominees, Gibney stated, "It's a very qualified group."[1]
