Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Supreme Court recently upheld a lower court's ruling dismissing a lawsuit for investigation into a legislative grant. Rep. Robert Watson brought the case before the court, questioning the legality of the large grants given out by the General Assembly annually. The court said that Watson did not have legal standing in the case, but did not rule out future lawsuits for legislative grant accountability. Watson was disappointed, stating, "We had an opportunity to fix a broken system and we didn’t."[1]
