Judges in Rhode Island do not participate in judicial elections. Instead, they are screened by the Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission, chosen via gubernatorial appointment and confirmed by the Rhode Island Legislature. Judges are not subject to terms, but are instead appointed for life.
