I grew up in Mesa. My family arrived in 1963. I attended Mesa Public Schools, and am a proud Westwood Warrior. I'm passionate about my City, and have served on and chaired many boards:

Economic Development Advisory Board Visit Mesa Board Planning & Zoning Board Mesa United Way Falcon Area Visioning Commission Greater Phoenix Economic Council-Mesa representative

I am a founding Director of Gateway Bank in Mesa.

I received the International Citizen Leadership Award from the International Economic Development Council in 2021.

In 2019, I was named Mesa Man of the Year, a very humbling experience.

I'm honored to support Scouting, and serve as the Chartered Organization Representative for Mesa-based Troop and Pack 653, Grand Canyon Council, Boy Scouts of America. Yes, I'm a Scouter too!

My sweetheart Karen and I have been together for many years, and we have 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren between us.
  • Above all, I value Faith and Family.

I am a strong advocate of transparency in government, and believe that government should work for the people.

Transparency and good stewardship in the management of public money is not optional.

My priorities are: Public Safety Putting the Citizens First Fiscal Responsibility Economic Development Integrity Transparency

Keeping the City in it's Lane
  • Quality of Life, Public Safety and Fiscal Responsibility are more to me than campaign slogans. These are among the duties our elected officials are sworn to uphold. If I'm so fortunate to earn your trust and be elected to serve, I will uphold these as your Councilmember. I am not a politician. I don't aspire to be one. I do aspire to serve the people of the community that has given my family and I so much.
  • I want to make certain that Mesa is a place where people can walk down the street, enjoy our great parks and move about the City without fear. Our use of public money must be with the greatest of transparency and at the will of the people. Our City Charter is the roadmap for how our elected officials should govern. It keeps the City in it's lane. I will follow that roadmap. Most importantly, I will not forget who I work for and who I am accountable to: You, the citizens of District 1. So I ask for your support and your vote on July 30th.

Keeping the City in it's Lane
This office is about as grass-roots as it gets. The opportunity to serve the community and citizens is first hand, and Councilmembers are local, accessible and accountable.
People of good character and integrity. I often reflect on my father as my example. He set the bar very high in these areas.
I like Knowledge & Decisions by Thomas Sowell, as well as Capitalism & Freedom by Milton Friedman.
Honesty, integrity and a heart-felt desire to be of service.
Experience. I have lived in Mesa over 60 years. I know where we've been, and have been actively involved in where we've been going for 30 plus years. I am willing to listen, and try to walk in the shoes of people who see he world differently than I do. I value mutual respect for other people highly, and will not tolerate discrimination of harasement of any kind.
Councilmembers should understand and follow the Mesa City Charter. Fiscal responsibility and oversight are essential. Moreover, listening to and following the will of the citizens is key.
That is was an honest man of faith who did his best to be humble, grateful and be of service to others.
The assassination of President John F. Kennedy in November, 1963. I was 5 years old then.
Cashier and credit clerk at a jewelry store in the old Tri-City Mall. I worked there 2 years through high school.
Moby Dick. It's a self contained lesson on so many things about life.
Learning to pause and avoid contempt prior to investigation.
Mesa is known for transparency in government. People should understand that the Council has the power of the purse, and should vote and hold elected officials accountable.
I bring 30 plus years of CEO level business experience to the table. In addition, experience serving directly in the community in a wide range of volunteer positions. I believe a candidate should earn the opportunity to serve by engaging and being of service at the entry levels. Beyond this, business expertise, a clear understanding of financial matters and the structure of Mesa city government.
Mesa Chamber of Commerce; United Mesa Firefighters Local 2260; Fraternal Order of Police Mesa Lodge 9
These are not optional, these things are essential and must be preserved and practiced.
