Rich Mills
Rich Mills was the acting ambassador to the United Nations in the Biden administration. He served from January 20, 2021, until February 24, 2021. He was succeeded by Linda Thomas-Greenfield, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 23, 2021.[1]
Biography
Mills earned a B.A. in foreign service from Georgetown University in 1981, a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1984, and an M.S. in national security policy from the National Defense University in 2005.[2]
He worked as an attorney before joining the Foreign Service in 1988. He served as the senior democracy advisor at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, a political counselor at the U.S. embassy in London, and a political officer at the U.S. mission to the United Nations.[2]
Achieving a rank of minister-counselor in the Senior Foreign Service, Mills also served in Malta, Lebanon, Armenia, and Canada.[2]
