Rich Olive was a Democratic member of the Iowa State Senate. He represented District 5 from 2007-2010.

Olive has received his high school diploma.

Olive served in the United States Army National Guard. He has been President of Story City Development Corporation. Olive has also been the owner/President of Norsemen Insurance and Realty.

Olive lost to Republican candidate Robert Bacon by a margin of 12,368 to 10,510 in the November 2 general election.[1]

In the June 8 primary election, Olive was unopposed.[2]

2006

On November 7, 2008, Olive was re-elected to the 5th District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating James M. Kurtenbach (R).[3] Olive raised $231,239 for his campaign, while Kurtenbach raised $206,876.[4]
