Rich Spindler was an at-large member of the Eau Claire Area School Board in Wisconsin. He served as board president from May 2014 to May 2016.

Spindler was re-elected on April 5, 2016, but he resigned in May 2016 to pursue a job in another state.[1][2] His resignation took effect on June 21, 2016. The board accepted candidate applications through June 14, 2016. The candidate appointed to fill Spindler's vacant seat was scheduled to serve a one-year term expiring in April 2017.[2][3]

Spindler earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985. He went on to receive a master's in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1987, a master's in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1992, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Vermont in 2005.

Spindler has experience as an electrical engineer for Bell Labs and as a software programmer. He has also worked as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and an instructor at John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.[4][5]

Elections

2016

Four of the seven seats on the Eau Claire Area School District school board were up for general election on April 5, 2016. Incumbents Rich Spindler and Chris Hambuch-Boyle filed for re-election, while fellow board members Chue Xiong and Wendy Sue Johnson opted not to seek a new term. Newcomers Aaron Harder, Jennifer Fager, and Carolyn Barstad all filed as challengers in the race. Fager, Spindler, Hambuch-Boyle, and Barstad won seats in the election.[6]

Spindler resigned from his position in May 2016 effective on June 21, 2016.[2] The district accepted candidate applications for this unexpired position until June 14, 2016. Candidates served a one-year term that expired in April 2017.[2]

Spindler reported no campaign funding in the election, according to the Eau Claire Area School District.[7]
