A lifelong independent voter, Rich is endorsed by the Forward Party to be their 1st candidate running in the Minnesota General Election for a state office. A local from the Northshore of MN and Millennial, he brings solutions to the forefront of his messaging and the empathy in which to bridge divides. He has experience working in unions and strongly supports them and collective bargaining, as well as, cooperative housing and businesses. Additionally, his time as a product manager shows how he is willing to look at all aspects of problem solving and will lead a team to innovative outcomes. Rich knows the majority of Americans support his efforts in Election Reform focuses around 4 parts: Ranked Choice Voting, Independent Redistricting, Term Limits, and the End of Corporate Money in Politics. Ending the corrupt power games the Duopoly (the 2 Major Parties) play with American voters is paramount to getting transformative legislation proposed and passed.
  • "Trust Tru for Change." Independent Voters are the new MAJORITY in American Politics. It is time we started voting for individuals that are not controlled by Dark Money or Corrupt Political Parties. The same problems are still here without any real solutions for decades. It doesn't matter if Dems or Reps control different branches of government, they have repeatedly not done the work. Rich will be the 'Switzerland.' He will broker deals between all people and is not afraid to do the work and stand up to incomplete legislation and blanket bans/repeals.
  • "You are not alone in voting for him. He is not a Spoiler Vote." Rich isn't running for President, which is almost the only time you ever hear about those other alternative parties. He wants you to know, most Northern Minnesotans have been independents for a long time, but we rarely get alternative candidates on the ballot. In a district that was won by 15 votes, he only needs to get just over 1/3 of the vote, as his support is coming from everywhere on the political graphic. Except most Trump supports, Rich is a 'Never Trumper.' He is running to represent everyone in the district, not just half.
  • "The Urban/Rural priority balance must be restored." Both traditional major parties have make Greater rural Minnesota 2nd class citizens to the needs of urban populations. Being born/raised in and around Two Harbors, Rich had also spent a portion of this adult life in Los Angeles, where he has an unique perspective and understand that solutions for both work quite differently. Solutions, like politicians, should represent where they are trying to be implemented. Getting urban politicians to respect and prioritize rural MN will be the what Rich excels at. He's experienced in curating communication with individuals to whom he is working along side. The pointless fighting needs to end.
- Voter Choice & Power: RCV, Independent Redistricting, Term-Limits

- Housing & Critical Infrastructure: Modern Nuclear Power, Limiting Private Equity Firms, Affordable Housing, actual High Speed Rail, Comprehensive/Approachable Recycling
-Rural Education: Teacher Living Wage & Health Insurance, Neurodivergent Inclusive Teaching, Per-Pupil Funding Restructure, Cap Costs on Higher Education & their Housing
-Rural Medicine: EMS to become Public Service, Mobile Healthcare Options, Preventative Primary Care, Wholistic Coverage, Modern Health Access for Women & LGBTQ+, expand Mental Health services

- Infrastructure: Bonding Bills priority, End Natural Monopolies, Fiber Optic & 5G Cell coverage, Local Amenity Development
Let's start with Transparency & Accessibility to ones' constituents. (Which the current incumbent is not.) Willing to upset the status quo when it is required. (Neither party is or will do this.) Active Listening not to just concerns but to experts. Followed by, Doing the Work to verify and get other opinions. (The DFL doesn't do this, though they say they do, and RPM just plays games.) An energy to fight for your community. (I've got the youth and the experience to win those fights.) The empathy, attention to detail, and anticipatory nature to work with all types of people to see where they are coming from, formula why they drew different conclusions (even if they seem crazy,) and know how to approach or have a constructive dialog to find common ground and build an understand of all the issues and how real solutions (not political jockeying) with that person(s) can be designed and implemented. Lastly, (though I am sure there are many more,) talk isn't worth much on the campaign trail, but the worth of following through in action is invaluable these days.
To write legislation for ourselves not just what some lobbyist or PAC puts in front of them. To debate the substance in the House & hash out the details of said bills with the Senate. To create a budget that is equitable and fiscally responsible/accountable. To transform what Minnesota is, so it will continuously at the front of growing socially and economically.
Sadly, the one that is so vivid and was during my middle school years, was 9/11. I was 10. That day, the school was so quite. It was as if anything other than the TV playing in the classroom were to make noise, it would some how make the situation 10x worse. We had a moment of silence outside afterward followed by parents picking up the kids to talk about what happened. That event shocked us all and it illustrated to me, whether by foreign influence or not, the USA was as vulnerable of a nation as any. We are not perfect or indestructible, that is why we should be proactive and not reactive. If you are standing still, you're just watching everyone else move forward.
My ADHD. I don't wish to solve my difference, not disability, always with medications (which is also hard to even access at this time.) It's a thought process that requires new tools/skills to be implemented routinely. There is no fix, there is just understanding yourself, how it works (which is still not taught) and then how to use it with A-Typical minded people. I have always tried to embrace my differences and use them as a unique asset, which it very much is. You want attention to detail, looking at all the angles, analyzing 3-steps ahead of everyone else. That's me. I will never say I have mastered it, and as is life, setbacks happen, but learning from failing is the only true road to success.
The large retiring "baby boomer" generation and all that entails. From them being priced out of urban areas and/or just moving to rural parts of Minnesota that already have 4x per capita of retired seniors. Which will destroy out strained and limited healthcare access to services, more ADA accessible/affordable housing, lack of special care facilities, replacing those experience retires in their fields of work, and so much more. There are other subjects I could also talk about, but this is one that we will not be prepared for and will fell like it snuck up on us.
Rick Nolan. He was a long time correspondent of mine since my youth having met and talked with him quite often. I believe from the 1st time I met him, his personality of optimism was so infectious, it also became a core part of who I am today.
