2010 election
Mr. Gartner ran for judge on the 11th Circuit Court but lost the Republican primary to Matthew E.P. Thornhill, winning only 15.74% of the vote.[2]

Ballot challenge
The Missouri Ethics Commission is attempting to remove Gartner from the ballot, alleging that his personal financial disclosure form was returned late. In May, the 11th Circuit Court decided that Garnder met the filing deadline. The Commission is still waiting for a ruling by the appellate court.[3][4]
