Richard Thompson (North Carolina)
Richard "Dickie" Thompson is the former District A representative on the Raleigh City Council in North Carolina. He was first elected in 2015. Thompson won a new term in the general election on October 10, 2017. He did not seek re-election in 2019.
Biography
Thompson received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University. His professional experience includes working at the J.M. Thompson Company, a contracting business. Other experience includes serving on the RDU Airport Authority and the Raleigh Planning Commission.[1]

2017
The city of Raleigh, North Carolina, held municipal elections for mayor and city council on October 10, 2017. A runoff took place on November 7, 2017, in those races where no candidate received a majority of the vote. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 21, 2017. All seven council seats were up for election.
Incumbent Richard Thompson defeated Alex Moore in the Raleigh City Council District A municipal election.[2]

The city of Raleigh, North Carolina, held elections for mayor and city council on October 6, 2015. A runoff took place on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 17, 2015.[3] In the District A race, Richard Thompson and Edwin W. Woodhouse, Jr. defeated John Bruce Buxton in the general election. Thompson defeated Woodhouse in the runoff election. Incumbent Wayne Maiorano did not run for re-election.[4][5][6]
