Richard A. Zimmerman was a Ninth Judicial District judge for Crow Wing County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position on November 5, 1997, and was elected to full terms in 2000, 2006, and 2012. Zimmerman retired on September 5, 2017.[1]

Biography

Zimmerman received his B.S. from St. Cloud State University in 1973. He then worked from 1975 to 1980 as a special agent for the U.S. Treasury before earning his J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law in 1980. Zimmerman began his legal career in 1980 as a public defender in Aitkin County. He served in this position through 1993. He also became an associate of the firm Ryan, Ryan & Zimmerman in 1980. In 1983, he became a partner, and he worked in this position until his judicial appointment in 1997. He was also an examiner of titles for Aitkin County from 1988 to 1997.[2]

Zimmerman ran unopposed in the general election November 6, 2012. He received 99.42 percent of the vote.[3]
