My name is Richard Clement and, I am a candidate for the Detroit Public School Board. I am running to promote education that will improve the quality of life in our City, State, nation, and the world. The man that freed the weed will help the children read because, reading is essential to everything in life. This includes reading the instructions on how to use Siri and, using a computer. If you support change for the sake of our future, you must elect people who have our best interest at heart.

I feel that DPS has always been the best when it came to serving the community. The district was damaged from mismanagement from Lansing and, the best way to fix it is from the top down. On or before November 3rd, voters have a chance to elect the best 3 candidates and, recall the other four board members for not representing the will of the people.

I am a graduate of the Detroit Public Schools attending Pasteur Elementary, White Elementary, Hampton Jr. High and Mumford HS where I excelled in music and sports. Although the grades that I earned were not the top of the class, I graduated anyway and was determined to give back to my community by furthering my education past high school.

  • Our children's education is a matter of national security
  • Perserverance
  • In order to succeed, you must promote the skill of reading
My platform

Teacher safety and health care needs to protect them from Covid 19 and, the effects of PTSD by renegotiating contracts to allow for treating symptoms with cannabis.
De-emphasize test scores as a primary determination for allocating funds.
Increased funding of programs such as music, sports and, special education development.
Promote opportunities for jobs in aviation education with Benjamin O. Davis High
Promote the use of urban farming in and make science fun again with parental supervision to grow food, medicine and, materials like concrete with hemp.

Thank you for your support
Stokely Carmichael, Kwame Ture, Fran Tarkenton because these were people who got things done.
Doing technology work for candidates running for office. People person that can work with the most difficult person in the world.
Making chance for the improvement of quality of life for our commuity.
Detroit News Paper route at 10 years old
Mariah Carey a hero song because I was learning how to play piano and the intro is easy to play.
To develop policies for the operation of the Detroit Public Schools
The people of the City of Detroit who pay their taxes..
By looking for funding to support after school activities and special education students.
Teacher Union members and legislators who can make things happen like Governor Gretchen Whitmer does.
Politics for profit. I would remove the politics by de-emphasizing standard testing as the holy grail of measuring individual progress. If students are weak in reading then restricted funding for reading programs will be established within the district.
Good teaching begins with connecting with your students and classroom management
Using their smartphones to do smart things instead of dumb things.
All students K-12 must learn how to swim and, be able to perform math skills. This includes Civics classes and the responsibility of caring for their community.
Expanding DPSCD athletics to include a varsity level hockey team. Interships with major companies and law firms to employ students who want to work in skilled trades and/or go on to college.
Make sure that represenatives in Lansing pass laws that are beneficial to Detroit Public Schools.
Partnerships with law enforcement and mental health services to prevent school violence. Covid testing every 3 days at all DPSCD facility
Increased hiring of counselors and testing for mental stress..
I see smartphones as a tool to access information in and outside the classroom environment.
