Richard D. Carruthers

Richard D. Carruthers is an acting justice for the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1986.[1][2]
Carruthers was also a judge on the New York City Criminal Court, a position to which he was appointed in 1983. He was reappointed in 1992, 2002, and 2012.[1]
Education
Carruthers received his undergraduate degree from Saint Bonaventure University in 1967, earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1971, and received an LL.M. degree (in Corporation Law) from New York University in 1975.[1]
Career
Carruthers began his career in 1971 as an Assistant Kings County District Attorney. In 1975, he became Deputy Chief Counsel for the Office of the New York State Deputy Attorney General for Medicaid Fraud Control. He worked in this capacity until 1983, when he was appointed to the bench.[1]
