Richard Daronco
Richard Joseph Daronco (1931-1988) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and a justice on the Supreme Court of the State of New York.
In 1979, Daronco was nominated by New York Governor Hugh Carey for a position on the New York Supreme Court. He served there for eight years prior to nomination by President Ronald Reagan on February 2, 1987, to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated by Lee Gagliardi; he was confirmed by the Senate on May 7, 1987, and received commission the same day. He served until he was murdered[1] on May 21 of the next year.[2] Daronco was succeeded in this position by Louis Freeh.
