|- With the perspective of the young generation, I have noticed many crises that effect not only the younger generations, but all of us. This includes climate change, the opioid epidemic, the student loan and consumer debt crisis, and the obesity epidemic, among others. To me, all of these issues are more or less man-made creations. They have become an issue over time due to our societal and systemic behaviors. These crises are not only avoidable, but we can take action to rectify them.
- Climate Change, to me, is without a doubt the most pressing existential crisis of our time. We must take action to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions whether it is from transportation, agriculture, or our energy production. I support public transportation and bicycles as alternative methods of transport that will help with these goals. I also support the switch to solar, wind, and nuclear energy production to provide electricity to our communites.
- Young Americans, especially those in elementary and secondary education, are suffering from the worst mental health and psychological crisis ever recorded. Depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts are at all time highs. This is devastating to me personally, as I have seen the effects first hand. As a society, we have to do better to serve our younger generations, to provide them with the tools and environment to thrive.
