Richard H. Smith (Georgia state representative)
Richard H. Smith (Republican Party) was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 139. He assumed office on January 9, 2023. He left office on January 30, 2024.
Smith (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 139. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Smith served as a city counselor in Columbus, Georgia from 1997 to 2002.
Smith died on January 30, 2024.[1]
Biography
Richard H. Smith was born in Wrightsville, Georgia, and lives in Columbus, Georgia. Smith graduated from Morgan County High School. He earned a B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1968 and an M.S. from the University of Florida in 1970.[2]
Smith's career experience includes working as the extension director of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service and an adjunct faculty member of the UGA Fanning Leadership Center. He has served on the executive committee of the National Council of Insurance Legislators, as the president of the Chattahoochee Valley Fair and Exposition, and on the board of the Chattahoochee Valley Community Foundation.[2]
