Richard J. Celello was a judge of the 41st Circuit Court in Michigan, which presides over Dickinson County, Iron County, and Menominee County. He was appointed by Gov. John Engler (R) effective October 1, 2000, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John Payant.[1] Celello retired from the bench on December 31, 2017.[2]

Celello also served as a judge of the 95B Judicial District Court from 1978 to 1982 and a member of the Northern Michigan Board of Control from 1989 to 1996.[2][3] He was appointed to the district court by Gov. William G. Milliken (R) and the board of control by Gov. James Blanchard (D).[2]

Celello earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Marquette University Law School. His professional experience includes work as the Iron Mountain city attorney, the Dickinson County prosecuting attorney, the founder of his own law firm, and the corporate counsel and trial lawyer for Dickinson County Hospitals.[1]
