Richard Cocchiara was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 99 of the New York State Assembly.

After growing up in Rockland County, New York, Cocchiara earned his A.A.S. from Rockland Community College in 1982. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in business administration from Pace University in 1988 and his M.S. in management information systems from Marist College in 1999.[1]

Professionally, Cocchiara has worked as an engineer at IBM since 1982. He also worked as a property manager from 1989 to 1995 and from 2008 to 2014.[1]

Cocchiara has been involved in local politics. He has served as a councilman for the town of Hamptonburgh, New York since 2001.[1]

Elections for the New York State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on September 9, 2014. The general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Incumbent James G. Skoufis was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Richard M. Cocchiara was unopposed in the Republican primary. Skoufis ran on the Working Families Party ticket and Cocchiara ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Skoufis defeated Cocchiara in the general election.[5][6][7]
