Richard M. Weinberg
Richard M. Weinberg is a judge for the New York City Criminal Court in New York. He was appointed to this position in December of 2001 and was reappointed in 2007. He has also served as an Acting Justice of the New York County Supreme Court and the Presiding Judge of the Midtown Community Court since 2006.[1][2]
Education
Weinberg received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1967 and his M.A. degree from the New School for Social Research in 1972. He then received his J.D. degree from the George Washington University School of Law in 1974 and his L.L.M. degree from the New York University School of Law in 1978.[1]
Career
Weinberg began his career in 1975 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Henry Bramwell of the Eastern District of New York. He then worked as an associate for the law firms of Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin & Kahn (1977 - 1979) and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (1979 - 1981). He served as a New York Assistant Attorney General from 1981 to 1989. From 1989 until his judicial appointment in 2001, he served as general counsel and counsel to Speaker Peter Vallone of the New York City Council.
Weinberg's judicial career began in 2001 when he was appointed to the New York City Criminal Court. He was appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice and a Presiding Judge of the Midtown Community Court in 2006.[1]
