Richard Martinez Jr. ran for election to the Central Unified Board of Trustees to represent Trustee Area 6 in California. Martinez lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Martinez unsuccessfully ran for the Trustee Area 1 seat on the Fresno County Board of Education in 2018. He was also a candidate for the Trustee Area 6 seat on the Central Unified School District school board in California. Martinez was defeated in the by-district general election on November 8, 2016.[1]

Three of the seven seats on the Central Unified School District board of trustees were up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Leonard Ramirez did not file for re-election, leaving the seat open for a newcomer. Candidates Phillip Cervantes and Maria Petrogonas Brar vied for the seat, and Cervantes won. In her bid for re-election to Trustee Area 5, incumbent Cynthia Berube faced challengers Randy Rocca and Richard Solis. Solis was elected to the seat. In Trustee Area 6, incumbent Terry Cox defeated challenger Richard Martinez Jr.[2][3]

Martinez filed an exemption form detailing he would not spend or receive more than $2,000 for this campaign. Because of this, he did not have to file additional campaign finance reports.[4][5]

Endorsements

Martinez was endorsed by the Fresno County Democratic Party and the community organization Evolve.[6][7]
