Richard Priem was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of New Mexico.[1]

Priem was a 2014 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of New Mexico. He lost in the Republican primary to Mike Frese on June 3, 2014.[2]

Priem holds a B.S. in radio, television and film from the University of Texas, a Master of Education degree in educational media from the University of Georgia and completed coursework in a Doctor of Psychology program at the College of William and Mary. Before his 21 years of service in the Army, Priem worked as a news reporter and disk jockey on several radio stations in Texas. During his Army career he worked as provost marshal, as an assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy and as inspector general at the Department of the Army. At the time of his candidacy, Priem was an Albuquerque businessman.[3]
