Richard T. Fields (California)
Richard T. Fields is a judge for Division 2 of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. He assumed office on February 9, 2017. His current term ends on January 6, 2031.
Fields ran for re-election for the Division 2 judge of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. He won in the retention election on November 6, 2018.
He was appointed to this court by Democratic Governor Jerry Brown in December 2016.[1][2]
Fields formerly was a judge on the Superior Court of Riverside County in California. He was appointed to the court by Governor Gray Davis in 2000.[3]
Fields was the first African-American judge to serve in Riverside County.[4]
Education
Fields received his undergraduate degree from California State University at Fullerton and his J.D. from Western State University College of Law.[4][5]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Fields was a court commissioner from 1991 to 2000.[4]
