Richard W. Stanford, Jr. was a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California.[1]

Alleged misconduct

Stanford was accused of violating the Code of Judicial Ethics, canons 1,2,2A, 2B(1), 2B(2), 3B(7), 3B(8),3E(l),and3E(2).[2]

From approximately July 2003 through May 2010 he was reportedly engaged in a pattern of misconduct in the handling of traffic matters on behalf of his friends, acquaintances, a spouse of a family member and a member of court staff.[2]

On March 25, 2011 he was given notice, pursuant to Rules of the Commission on Judicial Performance, rule 118, that formal proceedings had been instituted and would proceed in accordance with Rules of the Commission on Judicial Performance, rules 101-138.[2]
