Three of the seven seats on the Richardson Independent School District board of trustees were up for by-district general election on May 7, 2016. Place 4 incumbent Katherine Patterson and Place 5 incumbent Eron Linn were the only candidates to file for their respective seats. Place 3 incumbent Kris Oliver defeated George Clayton in the election.[1] Voters also approved a $437 million construction bond.[2]

Voter and candidate information

The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees is composed of seven members who are elected by district to three-year terms in specifically numbered seats. Candidates file to run for a specific seat, but all voters in the school district are eligible to vote for every seat up for election. Places 3, 4, and 5 were scheduled for general election on May 7, 2016. There was no primary election.[3]

Candidates running for the school board had to be a United States citizen, a resident of Texas for at least 12 months, and a resident of the district for at least six months. Candidates also had to be 18 years of age or older and registered to vote.[3]
