Headen recall
A group of 20 residents targeted Headen for her alleged "inability to compromise, negotiate and work effectively with others," after numerous disagreements with the city council. Head fired ten city employees without explanation, and hired replacements without council approval, violating the city charter.[1]

Recall petitions against all four officials were filed at different times in early July 2014. Supporters must turn in 25% of the total electorate in the previous election in order to force a recall election.[1] In Headen's case, that was 725 signatures. Organizers turned in 1,050 valid signatures for Headen's recall. Because the mayor did not resign within 5 days of signature verification, the recall election took place on September 23, 2014.[2] Headen was recalled.[3]
