Rick Baker
Rick Baker is a former mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida, and was a candidate for mayor of that city in 2017. Baker was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Although municipal elections in St. Petersburg are officially nonpartisan, Baker identifies as a Republican.[1]
Biography
Baker received his bachelor's degree, an M.B.A., and a J.D. from Florida State University. He has worked as an attorney and also as an administrator at the University of South Florida. Baker was elected mayor of St. Petersburg in March 2001, and was re-elected in 2005. At the time of his 2017 campaign, Baker was the president of the Edwards Group, a St. Petersburg-based development and hospitality company.[2][3]

The city of St. Petersburg, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on November 7, 2017. A primary took place on August 29, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was June 23, 2017. Four of eight council seats were up for election.
Incumbent Rick Kriseman defeated Rick Baker in the Mayor of St. Petersburg General Election.[4]
