Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Bryson's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Economic Revival: Western North Carolina has waited a long time to become an equal player in our state. For as long as I can remember, the assumed rule was, “NC stops at Asheville.” We can change that, and at the same time enable the children that you send off to school to return to our home region to find top-of-the-line employment.
  • Education: The greatest leveling factor in America is public education. It’s the one thing in our society that enables everyone to have a reasonably equal start in life. Yes, some schools are better than others and some teachers are more gifted than others, but all in all, public education is that institution that has kept this country from being controlled by small elitist groups.
  • Energy & Environment: In the last debate of Republican presidential candidates, each tried to out-do the others in how they would emasculate the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Gun Control: Gun control is a problem of extremes—and I have to admit that I don’t have an ironclad solution to it.
  • Health Care: There is a reason that universal health care is important. Health care is expensive–no surprise there–often made so by profiteering medical supply companies and absurd charges.
