Rick Olson (Democratic Party) is a member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 39. He assumed office on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2027.

Olson (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 39. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Biography

Rick Olson was born in Des Moines, Iowa. Olson earned undergraduate and law degrees from Drake University. His career experience includes working as an attorney. Olson served on the board of the Iowa Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and on the Polk County Magistrate Appointing Commission.[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. Incumbent Rick L. Olson was unopposed in the Democratic primary and faced Joshua James Herbert (L) in the general election.[6][7][8] Incumbent Olson defeated Herbert in the general election.[9]

On November 4, 2008, Olson was re-elected to the 68th District Seat in the Iowa House of Representatives, defeating Larry Voorhees (R).[13] Olson raised $25,165 for his campaign, while Voorhees raised $3,896.[14]
