Rick Payne (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Washington State Senate to represent District 2. Payne lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.

Payne was a candidate for District 4 on the Bethel Board of Directors in Washington. He filed to run in the general election on November 3, 2015, but withdrew from the race on May 18, 2015. His name did not appear on the ballot.[1]

Payne was also a 2014 Marijuana Party candidate for District 2-Position 2 of the Washington House of Representatives.[2]

Payne graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School in 1985. He is a former vice president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 313. Payne has been involved with the Pierce County Democratic Party as a precinct officer in District 2.[3]

Three of the five seats on the Bethel Board of Directors were up for general election on November 3, 2015. District 2 incumbent John Manning, District 4 incumbent Amy Pivetta Hoffman and District 5 incumbent Brenda Rogers won re-election without opposition.[1]

Rick Payne intially filed to run in the District 4 race, but he withdrew in time for his name to be removed from the ballot. Write-in candidates had until October 16, 2015, to file to run in these elections.

Funding

Payne reported no contributions or expenditures to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission in this election.[4]

2014

Elections for the Washington House of Representatives took place in 2014. A blanket primary election took place on August 5, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was May 17, 2014. Incumbent J.T. Wilcox (R) and Steven Nielson (L) defeated Rick Payne (Marijuana Party) in the primary. Wilcox defeated Nielson in the general election.[2][5][6]
