Rick Unruh is the Post 1 representative on the Houston County School District school board in Georgia. He was initially appointed to the chamber in 2013 and won re-election on May 20, 2014. Post 1 includes Centerville Elementary, Eagle Springs Elementary, Northside Elementary, Parkwood Elementary, Westside Elementary, Thomson Middle and Northside High.[1]

Unruh won re-election in the general election on May 24, 2016.[2]

Unruh spent 35 years to education before retiring from his media specialist job with Houston County schools. In addition to his role as media specialist, Unruh was a choral teacher at Northside High School for 15 years and at Barnwell School in South Carolina for about three years.[3]

Four of the seven seats on the Houston County Board of Education were up for general election on May 24, 2016. There was no primary. Post 1 incumbent Rick Unruh and Post 5 incumbent Helen Hughes ran without opposition. Post 3 incumbent Dave Crockett won re-election against Robbin Jackson. Incumbent Bryan Upshaw defeated challenger Andy Rodriguez for At-large Post 7.[2]
