Work
Independent expenditures
According to the Center for Public Integrity, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) funded an estimated $802,700 in television advertisements in Wisconsin in 2014. Most of its advertisements targeted Mary Burke, the Democratic opponent of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in the state's 2014 gubernatorial election.[2]
During the 2012 recall election of Scott Walker, the organization was responsible for political mailings and the website HigherTaxesFewerJobs.com, which contains information and advertisements discouraging voters from supporting Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and President Barack Obama. Barrett and Falk were both Democratic candidates for governor during the 2012 recall. Barrett won the primary against Falk and lost to Scott Walker in the general election on June 5, 2012.[3]
The PAC has been active in Wisconsin since at least 2006 when it spent $2 million on issue ads targeting Democratic Governor Jim Doyle. The organization spent $5 million in the 2010 general elections, $3.5 million of which went towards independent expenditures.[4]
According to state campaign finance reports, Right Direction Wisconsin PAC did not make independent expenditures during 2015. As of July 2016, the group had not made independent expenditures for the 2016 election cycle.[5]
