I have been politically involved since high school, when I led my high school and neighboring schools in a walkout to protest gun violence. Upon arriving at Dartmouth College, I continued this activism, working to turn out the vote and advocating for important policies in the New Hampshire state house. When Rep. Garrett Muscatel was elected to this office, I worked with him to write legislation, including several bills that passed the state house unanimously. If elected, I will bring this experience in advocacy and policy making to the office and work tirelessly to represent my constituents.

In working with Rep. Muscatel and facilitating student activism across the state, I have seen firsthand the power of young leadership. The average age of the NH state house is 61, and as a 19 year old student I hope to provide a needed perspective to the legislature and a new sense of urgency on issues important to New Hampshire such as climate change, voting rights, and health care.

  • Defending the right to vote and promoting fair elections
  • Protecting our environment
  • Making health care affordable and accessible
I am really passionate about protecting the right to vote in New Hampshire. I have been endorsed by End Citizens United and Let America Vote in this election for my history of fighting voter suppression because throughout my time as a Dartmouth student, I have worked to increase turnout among student voters. In the 2018 midterm elections, I coordinated voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts, contributing to record-breaking youth turnout in Hanover. I can engage the young Democratic voters necessary to make sure Donald Trump loses in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire faces significant risks as a result of our changing climate, and as someone who is significantly younger than the current legislature, I will bring new urgency to fighting the climate crisis. The number of heat wave days is expected to triple by 2050, and the state currently has 20,000 individuals who are vulnerable to extreme heat. Additionally, 5,000 Granite Staters are also at risk of coastal flooding as a result of rising sea waters. I want to explore wind energy on the Seacoast, pass net metering bills to boost solar energy incentives, promote energy efficiency, and put a price on carbon. This way, New Hampshire can become a leader in the fight against climate change.

I have also worked for state legislators on several bills that lower the cost of health care for Granite Staters, including the recently passed law that puts a price limit on insulin.
My grandmother, now in her late 80s, was a longtime activist. For decades, she marched and organized for civil rights, for women's rights, and against corruption in government. She was never up on any big stages, and she's not in any history books. She was a foot soldier in the crusade against injustice, and over the course of her lifetime, saw many incredible achievements unfold as a result of the pressure that she and her peers applied. Despite all the progress that was made, though, the values that she represented and fought for her whole life-justice, tolerance, and equality-need staunch supporters, now more than ever. She instilled these values in me, and now I hope to follow her example in exhibiting them in everything I do.
Yes - the work I have done in researching and writing bills for this legislature would be a major asset for me as a first-time legislator in bringing about the changes I want to make. It has helped me identify the specific areas of New Hampshire law that I want to improve, understand the peculiarities of the state's political process, and build relationships with several current legislators.
One legislator cannot pass laws alone. At the very least, you need a majority of votes to pass a bill, but I believe that the best legislators are unafraid to lean on their peers who have different experiences, viewpoints, constituencies, and areas of expertise, in order to craft laws that work for everyone.
Rep. Garrett Muscatel, who (like me) was a student when he ran for this seat, is a wonderful role model. Not only was he instrumental in getting Dartmouth students politically engaged, and getting them out to vote when their votes were needed, but he was able to bring a new perspective to important issues. He sponsored several important bills which I had the opportunity to research and draft, including the insulin price cap I mentioned earlier, which is a major policy change that is going to benefit so many Granite Staters in the years to come.
