Campaign themes

2016

Del Gallo's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

  • Rinaldo Del Gallo supports public funded, universally available pre-kindergarten education. It would not be legally mandatory, but would be available for all families that want it. These programs are useful tools in making sure that children are reading for school as they advance in age. It allows children to interact in age-appropriate settings in a teacher environment, and learn very basic skills such as name recognition of colors and animals.

Minimum Wage

  • Del Gallo favors raising the minimum wage in Massachusetts to $15, immediately, across the board, and with few exceptions.

Styrofoam and Single-Use Plastic Bags

  • As state senator, Del Gallo will continue to work to protect the environment by pushing for a state-wide ban on Styrofoam and single use plastic bags.

Single Payer Health Care

  • Del Gallo supports a Single Payer system and it is a key component of his campaign. According to Massachusetts Nurses Association, “The Massachusetts Health Care Trust bill would create a Single Payer Health Care System for Massachusetts, guaranteeing first rate health care coverage for every resident of the state, while saving money for state and local government, businesses, and residents.” As a Bernie Sanders progressive, Del Gallo believes in Medicare for all. And if it is not enacted at the federal level, Del Gallo would enact it at the state level.

Shared Parenting

  • As a state senator, Del Gallo will fight for shared parenting legislation, a fight that has been going on since the 90’s with bills filed every year.[1]
