A Rio Vista Rollback of Water and Sewer Rates, Measure A ballot question was on the June 7, 2011 ballot for voters in the City of Rio Vista in Solano County, where it was defeated.[1]
If Measure A had been approved, it would have lowered the combined water and sewer rate in the city to about $65/month starting on July 1, 2011. There are two sewer systems in the city. Residents in one district pay about $97/month, while residents in the other pay about $132/month.[1] The current rates were approved in 2009.

Support
Loetta Papetti, president of the Rio Vista chapter of the Solano County Taxpayers Association, supported Measure A and helped circulate a petition to qualify it for the ballot. She said, "We are a community of (older) people who are on fixed incomes. There are a lot of people who really cannot afford this."[2]
Opposition
Arthur Fox and a group called "Residents for Saving Rio Vista Committee" opposed Measure A. Fox said, "Why would anyone want to buy into a town or live in a town that can't support its water or sewer system, let alone its police, fire, library or parks department?"[2]

Measure A was placed on the ballot as an initiated city ordinance through the collection of signatures on petitions.[2]
