As a state senator, RIta will prioritize equitable funding for schools, support for teachers, and innovative programs that empower students to reach their full potential.
  • PROTECTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN RIGHTS: Advocating for the rights of women and children is a moral imperative that requires unwavering dedication. Women and children are often the most vulnerable members of society, facing various forms of discrimination, violence, and exploitation. It's crucial to advocate for policies and programs that promote gender equality, protect against gender-based violence, and ensure access to education, healthcare, and other essential services for women and children. This includes advocating for women's health rights, such as access to reproductive healthcare, maternal care, and treatments for gender-specific health issues. • AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Access to affordable housing is not a luxury, but a fundamental right for all individuals and families. Adequate housing is a cornerstone of stable communities and personal well-being. Rita will advocate tirelessly for policies and initiatives that prioritize the development and maintenance of affordable housing options. Every person deserves an affordable place to call home, and it's our collective responsibility to ensure that this basic need is met for everyone, regardless of income or background. Let's work together to build inclusive and equitable communities where housing is truly accessible to all.
I am passionate about quality and affordable education, the conservation, Medicaid expansion, women's reproductive rights, increasing the minimum wage, affordable housing, making sure of gun safety, decreasing violence and domestic abuse.
The most important characteristics for an elected official are empathy, integrity, and dedication. My passion for assisting people through challenging times and difficult situations will drive my success in the South Carolina Senate. For over 19 years, I have been a committed advocate and troubleshooter in our community. I have worked to enhance the lives of residents by providing access to affordable housing and fostering community development. This experience has solidified my commitment to serving and supporting our community in meaningful ways, ensuring that every citizen has the resources and support they need to thrive.
I have several qualities that I believe would help me succeed as an officeholder. First, I'm good at standing up for what people in my community need. I understand how laws are made and can make smart decisions that benefit everyone. I'm careful with money and know how to manage budgets responsibly. Plus, I believe in being open and honest about how government works. I'm dedicated to making sure everyone's voice is heard, especially those who might not always have a say. And I'm great at working together with others to find common ground and make progress on important issues.
