Rita Smart
Rita Smart (b. November 13, 1948) is a former Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives, representing District 81 from 2011 to 2017.
Smart earned a B.S. in Vocational Home Economics from Eastern Kentucky University in 1971 and her Master's from the University of Kentucky. Her professional experience includes owning Bennett House Bed & Breakfast and working for the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture for 34 years.

2014
Elections for the Kentucky House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent Rita H. Smart ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while C. Wesley Morgan ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Smart defeated Morgan in the general election. Bonnie Linnemeier (R) withdrew before the primary.[5][6][7]
2012
Smart won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky House of Representatives District 81. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, and defeated Mary R. McGill Long (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[8][9]
2010
Smart's opponent in the November 2 general election was Republican candidate Tiffany Nash. According to official results, Smart defeated Nash by a margin of 6,778 to 5,373.[10]

Smart defeated Jimmy Williams by a margin of 3,304 to 2,291 in the May 18 Democratic primary election.[11]
