Rob Gordon is a staff director and senior policy advisor for the House Committee on Natural Resources and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.[2] Gordon was also a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[3][4]
Career
Early career
Rob Gordon started at the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Conservation and Recreation as a board member in 1997. He remained with the board until 2002.[1] The board oversees the general well-being of the state parks system, including funding and projects.[5]
Organizations
In 1989, Gordon served as the executive director of the now-defunct National Wilderness Institute. Gordon was the co-founder of the National Wilderness Institute, which sought to educate the public on environmental issues and promote what it described as "common sense environmentalism".[6][7][8]
From 2007 to 2008, Gordon served as the president of Responsible Resources. Shortly thereafter, he joined The Heritage Foundation as a senior advisor for strategic outreach, where he remained until 2015.[1]
Government appointments
In 2004, Gordon served as staff director and senior policy adviser for the House Committee on Natural Resources.[9][3] Later, in 2015, Gordon was appointed staff director for the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and a senior policy advisor on the Endangered Species Act for the House Committee on Natural Resources.[2]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Gordon was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was tasked with overseeing regulatory reform.[4][3]
