Rob is a fifth-generation resident of Thurston County, has built his life around hard work, family values, and a deep commitment to the place he’s called home for so long. He brings decades of hands-on experience to the role of Thurston County Commissioner, including planting trees, working on dairy farms, firefighting, and successfully running a well-drilling business for over 25 years. He understands what it means to serve and he’s ready to lead Thurston County with the same dedication and care he’s shown his entire life. What sets Rob apart is his focus on making sure the county runs like it truly cares about its people. He knows that local government should be responsive, efficient, and centered around the needs of the residents. Rob’s vision for Thurston County is one where small businesses can thrive, families feel supported, and public services work for everyone. His independent approach ensures he’s not tied to partisan politics, but focused solely on what’s best for the community.Rob’s connection to the land runs deep,he’s part owner of a family tree farm and his years of work planting trees, building bridges for public and forest roads, and running his well-drilling business have given him a deep understanding of both the natural and infrastructure needs in the area. Rob sees Thurston County as a place where neighbors help each other, and with your support, he will bring thoughtful, independent leadership that reflects the values and needs of the of the people
  • Thurston County is part of an insurance pool. Poor choices over the years have cost the insurance pool millions of dollars.According to the state auditor, they are illegally spending 3.2 million dollars and there is a potential sexual harassment lawsuit settlement in the near future. The county is now suing the DNR to stop timber harvesting that will cut millions of dollars in funding to schools, fire departments, sherrifs and roads and will potentially lead to more lawsuits. At some point this has to stop or the county will be kicked out of the insurance pool
  • I am very comcerned about the housing shortage at both the state and county level. This is goverment driven and Thurston County Building and Planning is the driving force. It took my daughter 2 years and 3 months to obtain a building permit. This is totally unacceptable. This is a simple, easy fix but only if you care to fix it. It's time for a change.
  • Rogue runaway goverment is injuring our citizens. Due to the county's intentional misinterpretation of the rules and regulations, there is an impoverished Vietnam veteran with cancer, that has been without a water system for over two years. Someone needs to be elected that is willing to reel these people in.
Fiscal policy and individual rights and freedoms are near and dear to my heart
My uncle Roy flew a B19 over Germany during WW2. He owned 2 auto parts stores and told me to always do honest business with people
Dedication to the people that elected you and total focus on the job they elected you to do. For example, some of the current commissioners have two jobs and are making $280K per year. They don't seem to have any time to do a good job running the county, but they still vote themselves a raise.
I know the difference between right and wrong and have a strong dislike for wrong
Core reponsibilities should be a strong focus along with not getting the county into unnecessary lawsuits.
To have a happy and prosperous county
I worked on dairy farms for 3 years while in high school
My Side of the Mountain. It was about a young kid on their own stuggling to make it work
County Roads Take Me Home by John Denver
Ran my own household as a young teenager (15 years old) and it was a struggle to make it work
As an elected representative of the people, the number one responsibility is to let the people understand where and why their tax dollars are being spent, preferrably before they are spent.
