I am a small business owner, a US Navy Veteran, a former Deputy Sheriff and a person who is tired of party line politics in this state. I am not a politician and never held public office but I am not one to sit back and just complain. If we need to enact change, regular citizens need to take a stand and act not just complain from the couch. I felt it was my time to stand and run for office to make Michigan a better state and for my district have an actual voice of the people.
  • Stop Party Line Politics: We have seen this happen during this pandemic and we are at a stalemate in Lansing. We need to stop electing 'politicians' and elect regular people to actually have discussions to improve the districts we represent and to improve the state of Michigan.
  • Public Saftey: We need our 1st responders and we need to ensure that they have the equipment and ability to do their jobs. Our former Democratic Rep. voted for defunding our valuable assets who protect us and our properties. ( see HR277) Why would we allow another Democrat to do the same?
  • Protect our Seniors: Our seniors are our pride of our communities. They helped build our cities and we need to protect them. Or current governor and Democratic Rep,. stood with the Governor on HR 276. 2020 House Resolution 276: Oppose decision to put coronavirus cases in nursing homes. The Democrats stood against our seniors then why will the future be different?
Education: I am married to a teacher who has been teaching our kids for over 29 years. She has dedicated her life to the education of our children.

1) One item that riles me more than most is the discussion with grade school children of sex and transgenderism. This is WRONG!

There is plenty of time for a child to gage their personal lifestyle and a grade school child should be a kid, learning and playing and not thinking about issues such as this! This should not be discussed or presented in any school in the State of Michigan.

2) Our teachers are valuable and they should not be forced to take pay cuts or lay-offs because of ‘our’ draconian Governor and her horrible decisions.

3) We need to pay good teachers great money and retain the best of the best. Quality teachers deserve better incomes!
First and foremost, my father. He was taken far to early, nearly 45 years ago. He taught me that hard work and self-responsibility was the way to succeed.

My Grandfather was another amazing man. He came from Italy and worked hard for the Chicago Transit Authority. He barely spoke English and was so beloved that his funeral procession was nearly a mile long. It showed that an immigrant to our nation can succeed and be a man of honor.

From a political stand point if was John Kennedy. He was a true inspiration to a nation. JFK, in today's world may have been considered a republican because of his views. He maintained an open mind and listened to all people regardless of party affiliation. Great ideas are on both sides and when we close out those ideas because it comes from a republican or a democrat, the people lose, the state loses and the country is damaged. This is what is occurring in our state and on a federal level. This country is so divided based on political party lines we should be embarrassed as a people that we allow this to continue to occur.

Change only happens when we put the politicians out of office and put regular people into office. That is up to the voter.
Everyone is different. Even though a republican is a constitutional conservative (such as myself) does not mean I am a right winger.

I am fiscally responsible yet I am moderate on social issues.

Not every democrat is a far left socialist nut. Many are more moderate.
Following the constitution is number one. We must believe in what the foundation of this country was founded on.

An official must make every effort to meet with their constituents as frequently as possible. They must remain in the loop and hear the concerns of the people in their district. I have not seen this by our prior represetnatives.

An offcial should also be focused on the rule of law. We must protect our citizens.

A good offcial must listen to others in the legislature. We must hear the benefits of the proposal and if it is positive but against our 'party' we must do what is right for the people we represent.
I am open to hearing alternatives

I am not pro political party but pro-person
I am my own person with my own opinions and my own ability to make an informed decision
I am a constitutional conservative
I am a believer in self responsibility
I am a believer in the rule of law and I support law enforcement 100%
I am convinced that a socialist agenda is detrimental to the state and country
I am pro-life but believe in the law and a woman's choice under that law.
I am a believer that all people regardless of race, color, creed, age, sexual preference deserve respect and any discrimination under any circustance is unacceptable.

I am a believer that all people regardless of race, color, creed, age, sexual preference should be self reliant and it is the quality of their character and not their individual situation that is more important.
Listen and do what is right for the people - not the party, be your own person.
We are ALL individuals and not a democrat or republican or libertarian or any other political organization.
I want to do well for the people in my district and the state of Michigan. I want to be remembered as a caring and honorable legislator.
The assassination of John F. Kennedy. I was 5 years old. I remember sitting next to my father as it unfolded on TV.

To this day I remember the shock on my parents faces.
JFK was an amazing leader and as I grew older and learned more about him. He was an inspiration to me. He showed that regardless of political party the parties can talk and find the solutions that improved our country. That has long been forgotten by our current parties and we need to change that and it states at the state house level. We do not need to keep electing 'career' politicians to office, that is the fly in the ointment that breaks down our democratic society.

When the two sides cannot talk and they vote for an immoral stance to stand with the party we all lose. This needs to end and that is why I am running. The Democrats in this country and this state have moved so far left it is devasting to the people of this state. We need constitutional conservatism to lead the way.
My first job in high school was washing cars for a car dealership. I held that job for a couple of years.
It was a good job and it taught me about sales. I watched the salespeople and managers and they taught me how to be a good salesperson.
Anything by John Gisham he is an excellant writer and story teller and comingling crime and the law is always interesting.
Like many regular people I have faced tough financial times, I have faced serious illness and I never gave up and always fought to come back. I know that life can turn upside down on you in an instant and I know that each moment is valuable. We do not know how much time we have.
Time is the once thing we can never get back once it is gone.
The legislature is a necessity for the state. Its main function is to pass laws that will affect all the people in the state. The Legislature also levies taxes in the state, such as income and sales taxes. This is where the two-party system see’s many differences between spending and budget control.

The Governor has the ability to veto decisions by the house legislature and the ability to lead the legislative branch toward proposals he/she see for the betterment of the state.

The relationship between the Governor and the legislature is paramount to the success of the state while maintaining a balanced budget, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Ideally both sides must talk less and listen more.

ENERGY: We are all seeing the insanity in the world right now and we see the fuel prices rising to a point of being unsustainable for many people in Michigan.

Our Governor is not doing a thing to help the people of Michigan.

On the other hand, she is trying to stop Line 5 which distributes crude oil and propane when the citizens are hurting from this excessive energy pricing.
She is once again is stepping on the throats of the working people of Michigan.

Line 5 is the source of 65% of propane in the state’s upper peninsula and provides 55% of Michigan’s supply of the fossil fuel. That is a huge amount and Whitmer wants it shut down at the worst time in our history.

Michigan has the 10th highest gasoline taxes in the United States.

With the gas tax and sales tax Michiganders are adding over .40 cents a gallon to the cost of the fuel itself. We need leaders to lead and that should equate to a 2-year moratorium on the gas tax and its sales tax to help the people of Michigan through this energy crisis facing the working class in the State of Michigan.

The next issue is business growth in the state and providing a attractive tax policy to attract new business to Michigan to gain more job growth and by doing so increase our taxable base to improve the states roads and infrastructure.
Unicameral is a fancy word for Socialism. A one-party system is not what America was founded on, our constitution was not written for and thus is would change the path and strength of America forever. It should NEVER be considered.

We need different ideas and concept and a procedural voting process of checks and balances. To have one group vote without checks and balances can send us into a tailspin we cannot recover from.

Only one state in the USA works under this system. While a unicameral system may reduce opposition between the members, it also would eliminate certain levels of protections for the citizens. The system is also more economically friendly for a state since we have less members in the house and senate with just one chamber. But once again the negative is a house controlled exclusively by one party; then the citizens of the state are held hostage by that one party without having a voice of their own.
NO! Politicians in general do not consider all of the people just their own party. Government is nothing more than a big business. Government wants us to believe that it is a 'special thing'.

It is a not, it is a business that buys, spends and hires and terminates employees. Their product is the laws of the state and making the state whole, profitable and stable; just as any other business desires to accomplish.

I believe we need people who do many things very well.
(1) is to understand people and what is important to them.

This is done by (#2) Listening to the people, all of the people regardless of party affiliation.

(3) Control spending just as we do in our households. We cannot overspend in our personal lives as we should not in government.

(4) Negotiate: a legislator needs to have the ability to negotiate and sell their concepts. A politician, as we have seen in the past two years, does not have the ability to negotiate. We have seen this come to the forefront during the Covid pandemic. We saw lines drawn in the sand with no concern for ALL of the people.

(5) A good legislator needs to question the actions of government. This is an area where a 'politician' fails and we see party line politics rear its ugly head over and over again.

(6) Lastly, we need to hold our politicians accountable and this is not happening in our state. The only people that can do this is the people, WE THE PEOPLE at the voting booth.

If a politician such as our Governor, was found to be violating our constitutional rights by the Michigan Supreme Court and she side steps their ruling by utilizing the health department and the state police as her private army then this is a direct violation of law. She should have been held to the mat for this. We have a party line politician as the Attorney General and she was derelict in her duties to hold the Governor accountable for her actions.
Absolutely!

The only way we will accomplish anything in Lansing is to sit down and talk and learn about others. We all have a common ground and we just need the desire to find it. Just because a person represents the democrats or republicans or libertarians does not make them the enemy. This is a lesson lost in Lansing.

I believe that (regardless of party) we all have good ideas. It is a matter of explaining them and once again, negotiate with other legislatures on why your concept may be beneficial for ALL the people in the state. We cannot make everyone happy no matter how hard we try. We must accept this and move forward for the general good pf the state.
We need a combination of citizen and governmental input to equally reset districts where one does not lean too far to one end or the other when combining multiple cities.
As a military veteran and former deputy sheriff, the rule of law and veteran rights is very important to me. Being part of the Military, Veterans and Homeland Security committee would be an honor.

Another would be the Elections and Ethics committee. We need fair and ethical election law and we need serious tranparency in this area. What we saw in this state in 2020 (on video) is not acceptable. We need to ensure that all citizens of Michigan know that their vote is valuable and each vote counts.
No. I have not seen any politician who operated on their own views and opinions.
Recently I heard a lot of concern on 'homeless' pandering in my city. Many feel this can be an organzied group that are infiltrating our city of Madison Heights and our surrounding communities. We need to work hard to protect out citizens and to help the truly needy.
NO... this should be held on a vote based on the individual situation on each instance. The governor took control and used antiquated emergency powers to the detriment of the state, businesses and the citizen's financial health.

We saw the Michigan Supreme Court vote and say her actions were unconstitutional and yet she continued.
We do not need a dictator or a tyrant.

We need people to make their own decisions for their own families and what is best for them. We do not need big brother/sister telling us what to do. This is why we broke from England in the 1700's.
Absolutely. There is always a way to find an applicable solution. BUT.... we need people who are willing to talk to each other and more importantly LISTEN to ideas that may not be in your wheelhouse.

But this does not occur in today's political world. Look at DC and see the insanity affecting our country. The hatred for our past president and the actions by the left to destroy and affect his presidency was atrocious. We have seen this for years and years, Bush, Obama, Trump, now Biden. We have seen the anger and frankly the hatred from both sides, we see the far left wanting to make us socialist and we sit back and allow this. This is not compromise this is devastation to a nation. It is at the forefront in DC and we see the division.

Party Line Politics is alive and well in this state and it is hurting us. We have seen that in the votes of the Democrats who stood with Whitmer in HR276 to put covid patients into nursing facilities. Think about this... our most vulnerable being affected by a devasting disease and the Democrats thought this was a good idea. HOW is that a good idea? DEMOCRAT Jim Ellison voted not to oppose this.

June 2020… House Resolution vote: HR277 To Discourage local units of government from defunding Police.

DEMOCRAT Jim Ellison voted NO! Dems want to defund the police and this will affect our security. HOW is this a good idea in any realm?

If we continue to elect the Democrats, we will see the fall out since this party stands strong to the detriment of the citizens of District 8 and the State of Michigan.

I am a US Navy Veteran, a former Cook County Illinois Deputy Sheriff, I own a small business and have spent over 30 years in sales, management and finance. I am married to a wonderful woman who has been a school teacher for the past 28 years. I live in Madison Heights. I have a daughter and 3 grandchildren and 3 furry kids. It is time for logic in Lansing and I can deliver. Just visit my website and watch my video’s www.robfordistrict26.com.

  • I stand for our Police and Fire Fighters. As a former Deputy I wore the blue and I know what it takes to be on the front line.
  • I stand for our seniors. Placing Covid patients in nursing facilities is no less than manslaughter. We need to protect those who need it the most.
  • I stand with our teachers. Our educators need and deserve the best in income and benefits and we need to retain good solid educators in Michigan.
I will NOT stand to defund any law enforcement in the state. Our incumbent in Dist. 26 in mid- June 2020, on House Resolution 277 to 'discourage local governments from defunding police', he voted NO! He stands for defunding police, putting our communities in harm's way and taking our state and district to the far left and socialist platform. Her also voted NO on House Resolution 276 to 'Oppose placing Covid case patients into nursing homes' He stands with the party line and NOT with the people.

I will not vote to raise any taxes on our citizens. They have suffered enough through this pandemic and the draconian rules by a tyrannical governor. They lost jobs, lost their businesses, lost their health insurance, lost their dream and their hope and our citizens deserve better from our government.

I feel our seniors need to be taken care of and should have a freeze on their property taxes with no school age children living in their homes. They have paid their dues to society and the communities and we cannot force them out with excessive property taxes.

I also believe we need to open our state and our economy fully to protect our families from devasting financial harm, destruction of credit rating and saving jobs in Michigan. Currently we have the 3rd highest unemployment rate in the nation because of a foolish Governor and a house of representatives that stand with he and not for the security of the people in Michigan.
To stand for the People... not the political party.

To be able to discuss ideas with all people involved.

To have town-halls with the constituents and discuss what is happening in Lansing and how it may affect the communities.

The ability to talk and discuss options. Negotiation is mandatory and I am an expert.
Be moral, listen and communicate and be as transparent as possible or legally allowed.
That I did right by the people in my communities.
The murder of John F Kennedy. I remember watching the Dallas procession on TV with my parents. I was a very young child and I remember it all as it occurred.
I do not think it is mandatory. Actually, I feel it is the opposite. Politicians tend to lean to their party lines when they are career politicians. We need people who can discuss and talk about issues that will affect ALL citizens and not people in one party or the other. We need logic and business experience in office. We need to spend wisely and not like fools with an unlimited check book. We need to live within our means and to be smart and not political pawns.

We cannot achieve this with career politicians. We have seen the status quo for so many years we should know better. It starts with this election.

This is now not democrats vs. republicans. it is Liberty vs. Tyranny. and we need new blood in office and all incumbents should be voted out on November 3rd 2020.
Bi-partisan decisions for the benefit of the people not the political party.
Our Governor is acting like a dictator and not a legislator. She has ignored the legislature and ran on her own decisions. We cannot have this. We are a republic, not a socialist communist nation. We do not need dictators in office we need people who have the ability to see the big picture and not do knee jerk reactions.

We have seen what we DO NOT need as a Governor in the Covid situation. We have also seen how the democrats stood with Whitmer and Not the people who hired them and we have seen the Governor ignore and reject the republican response. Our system is broken and we need to replace them all and start fresh. It is our only hope of fixing Lansing.
Yes.
We are just people with different views. Where is gets murky is the party lines. I may be a Republican, but there are some good Democratic ideas to help the people of the state. We need to look at that and see what is best for the people. A good State Rep. does not vote no on a bill because it is a Democrat Bill or Republican bill. We see this too often. A good Rep votes for what is best for the people not the party. We have a good portion of career politicians who stopped working together years ago and have been brought into a system that is a stalemate. Then we as citizens ask why nothing gets done. We did it to ourselves by continuing voting in the same people..... it is time for a change.. write in NOBLE August 4th!
