Robert A. Cornetta

Robert A. Cornetta was an associate justice for the Massachusetts Superior Courts.[1] He was nominated to the district courts by former Governor William Weld in 1992, and was later assigned to the superior courts.[2] Cornetta may serve on the court until he turns the mandatory retirement age of 70.[3]
Education
Cornetta earned his A.B. with honors from Suffolk University in 1972. He then earned his J.D. with honors from the Suffolk University Law School in 1976.[4]
Career
Before he became a superior court judge, Cornetta served as an associate justice for the Ipswich District Court beginning in 1992, becoming that court's presiding judge in 1997. He also became the acting presiding judge for the Salem District Court, as well as a Region II administrative justice, in 1998. Prior to his judicial career, Cornetta was an attorney in private practice from 1983 to 1992. He also worked as an assistant commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare and as an assistant district attorney for Essex County. He was also the town manager for the town of Saugus. Cornetta was an adjunct professor of law at the Massachusetts School of Law.[4]
