Robert Croce, Jr. was a 2016 Democratic candidate for the Thirteenth Essex District of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
2016
Croce's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
| “
|
Constituent services
- Always be accessible and accountable to those who elect him.
- Return all phone calls, and listen to your concerns.
- Attend neighborhood meetings, and ensure that intrusive and excessive development never jeopardizes resident quality of life.
- Put all of the issues important to constituents at top of his agenda.
- Be a good partner for the Mayor of Peabody and town managers in Danvers and Middleton when it comes to funding important projects in their communities.
Education
- Ensure that communities in the district receive their fair share of state revenue ear-marked for education, and support important projects when it comes to new school construction and renovation.
- Oppose lifting the cap on charter schools until the system can be fixed. Currently, charter schools drain much-needed dollars from our traditional public schools.
- Be supportive of legislation that helps public school teachers be more effective, ensuring that we increase retention when it comes to our very best educators.
Public safety
- Ensure that the district’s communities get the right level of funding from the state budget to help with the hiring of firefighters, police officers and first responders.
- Fight for funding that allows public safety officials to conduct more training and drills that will help communities prepare to deal with mass casualty incidents, and other unforeseen disasters.
- Support current opiate-abuse prevention legislation, and work with local police chiefs to help treat addicts rather than incarcerate them.
- Hold the state accountable for the dangerous mess that is the Route 62/128 Danvers interchange, ensuring that this problem is corrected soon as possible.
Senior Citizens
- Be supportive of continuing funding for the RIDE, while seeking ways to expand this valuable public service.
- Be accountable on taxes, and oppose any tax increases that hit seniors on fixed incomes, whose current tax burden is already making affording their homes more difficult.
- Support and help keep affordable homecare programs, such as North Shore Elder Services, in an effort to allow seniors to maintain a high quality of life while remaining in their own homes.
Environment
- Support legislation that helps us forge a future dependent on clean, renewable sources of energy.
- Oppose the construction of gas pipelines that threaten homes, our environment and resident quality of life.
- Continue to oppose any taxes or “tariffs” that will force resident ratepayers to fund the infrastructure and construction of gas pipelines.
- Support legislation that helps support conservation and recycling programs in Danvers, West Peabody and Middleton.
- Refuse to accept campaign contributions from lobbyists who work for the fossil fuels industry.[1]
