Campaign website

Barb’s campaign website stated the following:

MY COMMITMENT TO PEACE, JUSTICE, AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Palestine deserves a two-state solution. I am committed to a peaceful, just, and sustainable resolution to the Israeli occupation of traditional Palestinian lands. I stand against the notion of Israeli’s settler colonialism and the apartheid state they’ve created. All people in the Middle East have the right to live in peace and security, free from occupation, oppression and fear.

Ceasefire Now. I condemn the civilian deaths Hamas committed on October 7, 2023, but we must also condemn the atrocities that continue to be committed on a daily basis by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza. More than 34,000 people (and likely much higher) – most of them children and women – have been killed in Gaza. The killing MUST stop, and that will only happen if the United States government forces Israel to agree to a ceasefire.

Both Jon Tester and Steve Daines have refused to support a ceasefire, and the conflict with Iran has now only thrown additional gas on a raging fire. I am holding Jon Tester accountable now because he is on the November ballot, and Montana has an opportunity to make a change. One of Jon Tester’s greatest failures is his inaction on the continued Israeli assault on Gaza, and his refusal to support a ceasefire. I’m running for the United States Senate to provide an alternative for the hundreds of thousands of Montanans who want to see an end to the Israeli occupation of Gaza and an end to war.

We need to get United States’ politics, taxpayer dollars, and human suffering of our military personnel (and their families) out of the Middle East conflict, which is largely based on thousands of years of religious conflict. We are NEVER going to resolve religious, tribal-based conflicts around the world, so what are we doing? We have a lot of problems at home in our country, which should be our priority and focus.

MY COMMITMENT TO DECRIMINALIZE CANNABIS

Voters around the United States have made it clear that recreational use of cannabis should be legal – cannabis remains fully illegal in only four states. It’s time for the federal government to follow the will of the people to decriminalize cannabis use at the federal level as well. Jon Tester is one of the chief impediments to cannabis legalization in the United States Senate over the next six years. At least Senator Daines has started to recognize the changing tide in cannabis policy through the Safe Banking Act, but Jon Tester can and should decriminalize it now. We must also have JUSTICE for Americans convicted of the possession, cultivation, or sale of cannabis. Those incarcerated for these crimes should be released, and their convictions stricken from their criminal records.

MY COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

We have lost our way as a nation and world in understanding our ecological footprint. Jon Tester’s record on protecting the environment is lackluster to say the least. One of the core tenets of the Green Party is ecological wisdom, which is ignored by both our major political parties. I’m the only one in the race for United States Senate who despite all the talk, truly walks the walk – literally, every day. I have lived “off the grid” in the mountains of Western Montana for decades in concert with the environment and with a minimalist footprint. I mostly hunt and fish, and I grow most of my own food. I live very simply and don’t rely on government sponsored corporate welfare like Jon Tester has done for years – Jon has received more than $280,000 dollars in federal subsidies for his farm.

MY GREEN PARTY OPPONENT IS A PAWN FOR JON TESTER

In researching my opponent in the upcoming primary, it is clear that my opponent is nothing but a political plant for Jon Tester. He and his wife have a history of supporting Democrat party leaders and funding their campaigns. For example, they have supported every Democrat gubernatorial candidate in the past 20 years. Like Jon Tester, they too make a living off “mining” the government for money – he is a bureaucrat, and she is a career lobbyist. Meanwhile, I am equally critical of both political parties.[1]
