Robert Barney
Robert S. Barney was a judge on the Southern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position in December of 1995 and retained by voters in November of 1998 and 2010.[1] He retired on September 1st, 2012.[2]
Education
Judge Barney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau. He then earned a J.D. degree from the National Law Center, George Washington University. He served in the military for three years during the Vietnam War. He is now married and has two sons.[1]
Career
Judge Barney worked as a lawyer in southeast Missouri for approximately 15 years. He worked for three years in the United States Diplomatic Corps. He was also elected for three terms to the Missouri General Assembly, representing District 156. In 1987, he became an associate circuit judge in the 35th Judicial Circuit. He held this position until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 1995.[1]
