Robert C. Coates was a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County, California.[1]

Abuse of office

Coates was publicly admonished by the California Commission on Judicial Performance for misuse of the power of the judicial office and court resources. The commission reports that Coates has previously been disciplined for similar misconduct and that he has received orders from his presiding judges to cease. "Judge Coates' recalcitrance manifests indifference toward the erosion of public confidence in the judiciary that results from irresponsible behavior by judges".[2]
