The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Sam Kong defeated Tracy Arakaki and Arnold Wong in the Democratic primary, while Robert C. Helsham, Sr. was unopposed in the Republican primary. Kong defeated Helsham in the general election.[1][2][3]
