Robert Cahill was a judge of the First District Appellate Court, 6th Division, Illinois. He was elected to this position in November of 1992 to a term beginning on December 7, 1992. He was retained by voters in 2002.[1] He passed away in December 2011.[2]
Education
Judge Cahill was born in 1936. He studied for his undergraduate degree at St. Louis University and Loyola University of Chicago. In 1966, he received his J.D. degree from the Loyola University School of Law.[3]
Career
Judge Cahill began his career as a legislative draftsman. He then served as legal counsel to the Illinois Senate's Education Committee and became chief of the Senate staff. He worked as an Assistant State's Attorney and the chief of special litigation for Cook County from 1973 to 1980. He then joined the law firm of "Rock, Fusco, Reynolds & Henaghan". In 1983, he became a judge. He worked as a trial judge for nine years, including five years in the Cook County Third Municipal District. He was elected to his current position on the Appellate Court in November of 1992.[3]
