Robert Cook returns to Illinois Appellate Court
March 25, 2011
Illinois: After enjoying his brief retirement, Robert Cook has been recalled to serve again on the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court. He was contacted by the Illinois Supreme Court to temporary fill the vacancy created when Sue Myerscough accepted a federal judgeship. Cook originally retired in 2008. Of being recalled, he said, "The supreme court said it would be helpful if I did it, and I saw this as a real compliment for them asking me back."[1]
Cook served as a judge on the Appellate Court from 1991 to 2008, in which he estimates he participated in about 450 cases each year. The appointment will probably last a couple of years, before another judge joins the court to replace him.[1]
