Edgel emailed Ballotpedia on September 15, 2022, with the following biographical note:

I was born and raised in Utah. My mom is from Puerto Rico and came to Utah to go to BYU. While in Utah she met my father and they were married here in Salt Lake City LDS Temple. In High School, I wrestled and played football. I think that sports can be a great tool to help build confidence and work ethic. After high school I served an LDS Spanish speaking mission to Wisconsin then went to BYU. At BYU I studied the sciences and graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Wildlife and Land Conservation. I love the outdoors and studying the natural world. I have worked as a wildlife biologist for nearly 9 years, 7 of those years in Springville, UT. If elected I will bring my experience working as a biologist to help improve our schools education in the sciences. I am 38 years old and my wife and I plan to raise our future children in the Nebo School District. I am running to ensure that by the time I have children in school that the schools here in Nebo are some of the best in the country. [2]

I am a constitutional conservative. I believe that we need to protect the constitution and teach our children in schools why it is so important. I also believe that American schools should be the best in the world and we can improve our test scores if we spend less time and energy teaching our kids things at school that are not important. We need to prioritize the basics. Also, we need to do more to utilize technology in the right way to make our education more effective. You can't just buy ipads and call it good. I also want to make sure that our schools are secure from violent attacks by improving the security systems in place in our schools. Lastly, I want to make sure that we prioritize parental rights and honor and listen to parents first. I want to help parents and voters know that they have the power to decide what their children are taught at public schools.
  • Parental Rights- I will work hard to represent local parents and not special interests.
  • Education Not Indoctrination- I want to end the use of our public education system as a propaganda machine for the democratic party and left wing extremists.
  • Transparency- School boards across the country are hiding things from parents and taxpayers. I will do all I can to make sure that what is beig taught to our children is known by parents and voters.
I am a constitutional conservative. I believe that the U.S. Constitution is a divinely inspired document and that our founding was a miracle. I believe that we need to teach our children why the constitution and freedom is so important to have a safe and prosperous society.
To represent the parents and voters in my district. To provide information to the members of my district about what the school board is doing. Serve the children to make sure that they are receiving the best education possible. Support the teachers and staff in every way that I can so that they enjoy their jobs and are successful in teaching the children.
All the members of my voting district. Nebo School Board District 5.
