Robert S. Gawthrop III (1942-1999) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Gawthrop was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 30, 1987, to a seat vacated by William Ditter;[1] he was confirmed by the Senate on December 8, 1987, and received commission the next day. He served until his death on August 1, 1999.
